Multidisciplinary dance creations

A creative approach that leverages creativity and imagination to redefine our relationship with space, revolutionising the way we create and interact with our environments through dance and collaborative world-building techniques.
Worldmaking
"World-Making" harnesses the power of creativity and imagination to revolutionise the way we create, reimagining the way we work with space by redefining our perception of it, altering how we interact within it, and transforming the purposes for which we utilise it. Drawing inspiration from speculative fiction, world-building techniques and collaborative practices, this project seeks to transcend traditional boundaries and
transform both the art of dance and the communities it serves.

Our current planet faces an array of pressing issues, from climate change and environmental degradation to social inequality and political unrest. In the face of these challenges, world-making emerges as a powerful tool for positive transformation, offering a platform for collective imagination, dialogue, and action. By engaging in world-making exercises, we can explore alternative futures, envisioning new ways of relating to the world and addressing its most urgent problems.
Participants will explore alternative realities and engage in a collaborative process of collective imagination and speculative thinking to envision a new world or scenarios, serving as the backdrop for dance movement exploration. We will integrate dance and storytelling, searching for embodiment of our environment and situations. Individually and collectively creating worlds that blur the lines between dance performance and storytelling. The project fosters community engagement by inviting diverse communities to contribute their unique perspectives, experiences, and cultural traditions to the world-making and dance movement exploration activities.

Through providing participants with tools, resources, and support, "Explore Alternative Realities" empowers creativity and agency, enabling them to express themselves authentically and contribute meaningfully to the co-creation of new worlds and dance movements. Ultimately, the project aims to promote social transformation by harnessing the transformative power of dance and storytelling to address social issues, challenge existing norms, and inspire positive change within communities, fostering empathy, understanding, and solidarity among participants.
OBJECTIVES
Environmental Crisis
Climate change, deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity threaten the health and stability of our planet. Through world-making, we can imagine sustainable societies in harmony with nature, where renewable energy sources, regenerative agriculture, and ecological conservation are prioritised. By creating immersive worlds that reflect these values and inspire real-world actions.
Social Inequality
World-making offers a space to envision inclusive societies where all individuals have equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources. By crafting narratives of social justice and equity, we can challenge existing power structures and inspire collective efforts to build more just and compassionate communities.
Cultural Identity and Diversity
Globalisation and cultural homogenisation threaten to erode cultural diversity and heritage, leading to loss of identity and belonging for many communities. World-making provides a platform to celebrate cultural diversity, preserving and revitalising indigenous knowledge, languages, and traditions. By creating worlds that honour and respect diverse cultures, we can foster mutual understanding, empathy, and appreciation for the richness of human experience.
Creating Dialogue and Collaboration
Through world-making, we can initiate a dialogue about the future we want to create and the steps needed to realise that vision. By bringing together diverse perspectives, experiences, and expertise, we can co-create narratives of hope, resilience, and transformation. By engaging in collaborative world-building exercises, we can build bridges across divides, inspire collective action, and forge a shared vision for a more sustainable, just, and thriving world.
