I started practicing yoga in 2003. I used to be a long-distance runner and I thought that yoga was a form of stretching. After a few years of regular practice, I realised that yoga was actually something else. Yoga is a tool that helps you in your everyday life, it is a practice that brings you on a much deeper level of consciousness and awareness. Ashtanga yoga is an intense practice. Every day you are called upon to look at yourself, from inside out, without any judgment. Everyday you step on your mat and do your practice, you are alone with your breath. Yoga means union. For me, it means 'union with myself', between my body and my mind and, as a consequence, union with everybody else, because we are all the same.
